ChORDS

ChORDS is a novel I've been writing for the last year. It came into existence in a stray idea of mine based upon the following words "do you believe you can be with someone, say nothing and walk away feeling like you have had the best conversation in your life?" combined with the idea of a life-changing moment shared with a stranger. It's a deep thought provoking romance story full of themes of acceptance, friendship, silence/noise, differences, connections and music.

What's really unique about ChORDS is that it's, hopefully, an evocative and realistic view into society and love. For me personally, it's quite a different genre from what I normally write; which is usually action/adventure/fantasy based works. I'm writing it in first person with alternating viewpoints from both Vivienne and Ayden. It's really important for me to finish writing this novel and publish it. I'd really appreciate your support, fans and if you have any questions or thoughts about ChORDS please do email them to me at Rhiannon-Ryalineth@hotmail.com

TITLE:

The title of my novel 'ChORDS' is a combination of two words; chords and cords, both of which are important themes throughout. The 'h' is there but in lowercase to represent the word 'chords' and the rest is capitalised refering to the word 'cords'. Vivienne is a piano player and singer, so it refers to both piano chords and vocal chords as music is very important to her. Equally, if not more important, chords refers to Aydens vocal chords as he is mute. Cords reminds me of connections and how everyone is connected to each other figuratively by a magical cord. Connections and how they affect people is very important to my novel.

CHARACTERS:

- Vivienne Hughes is a 21 year old music and psychology student living in Bristol with her father, stepmother and younger twin step-brothers. Vivienne gets her love and talent for music from her mother who died from Cancer of the vocal chords some years ago and her father, in his grief, came to dislike music for it reminded him of his beloved wife so Vivienne is doing her music degree without her fathers knowledge or premission. She's a hyper-sensitive, dreamy, curious and creative person. Vi currently feels suffocated by her life, like she has to hide who she is and look after everyone elses needs before her own.
- Ayden Quinn is a 24 year old librarin who is a reclusively exclusive elective mute in his quaint corner of the world uncaring about the 'pathetic' human-race of which he distances himself from. Ayden, his older sister and her fiance live above the library of which Ayden rarely leaves. He has very troubled past, involving the murder of his parents, which he is trying to get over. He has a Masters of Arts Majoring in Philosophy and English Literature and Minoring in Classical Studies. Ayden is always searching for answers and his research leads him to interesting places.
